In March 2023, Metro Municipality experienced Year on Year (yoy) inflation of 4.85 percent

In March 2023 in Metro Municipality there was year on year (yoy) inflation of 4.85 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 115.9. The highest yoy inflation occurred in Tual City at 7.49 percent with a CPI of 117.19 and the lowest occurred in Merauke City at 3.17 percent with a CPI of 112.59.

  Inflation occurred due to price increases as indicated by increases in most of the expenditure group indices, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 7.08 percent; the clothing and footwear group by 3.28 percent; the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel group by 0.15 percent; equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group of 1.66 percent; the health group by 1.81 percent; transportation group by 13.75 percent; the recreation, sports and culture group by 3.73 percent; the education group by 1.26 percent; the group providing food and drink/restaurants by 2.73 percent; and the personal care and other services group of 4.53 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure group that experienced a decrease in index was the information, communication and financial services group by 2.70 percent.
